I just received some heartbreaking news today. Our dog, Lulu I’ve almost 4 years recently suffered in accident. She was out, running in the yard, and somewhere along the way, she injured her back leg.
We thought she just sprained and all, so we just let her sit with it for 12 to 24 hours. Well, this morning it seemed like it didn’t make much of a difference so we took her to the pet hospital.
After several hours of being at the pet hospital, we found out that she has a torn ACL – an afford through insurance, but on a pet it is astronomical.
The doctors office gave us some options for a decent quality of life for her, although she will still be in pain. They recommend that we have her on these meds for about six months to see how she does in that time. She seems to be the same or getting better, it’s up tous, whether or not to keep going with it. if however, she does not get better in six months, they recommend the unthinkable.
Needless to say that this is very heartbreaking news. Well, we didn’t originally have this dog since the beginning, we’ve run to love her so much over the last four years. And to see her in any sort of pain, it’s not only unthinkable, we just simply can’t fathom it.
We want to do the best for her and her well-being, but I begged by the miracle of miracles that somehow through the medication‘s and gentle exercise we can rehabilitate the leg. But that scenario is quite unlikely short of having the money to repair the leg. This is the best that we can do for her.
My mind just wants to set up a GoFundMe account just so I can get the money for her surgery, but I doubt that we’d reach the goal to save enough for it.
There’s a time in place for everyone and everything in this life where it must come to end. But for her sake, I hope it is a long time away, along with the quality of life that she can comfortably endure.
